The Basics

Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) are semiconductor chips that emit light when a current is applied to them. They can produce nearly any spectrum of light from infra-red up to ultra-violet. They have been in use for many years in such applications as traffic signals and status indicators and only now have reached a point in their development where they can be used for general illumination. White light LED's contain a phosphor coating which affects the color of blue light led’s producing brilliant white light. While LED technology has finally reached a milestone in its development, there field is still progressing at a rapid rate and there is no denying that LED's will be the light source of the future.

Efficiency

Our brightest lamp the IBTEZ910_EW60 (a 10 watt PAR20 replacement bulb) produces up to 650 Lumens of light (about the same as a 65 watt incandescent) while generating very little heat. A regular incandescent bulb wastes nearly 98% of the energy it consumes in the form of heat. Simply another reason to use LED's is to save on the energy you spend cooling down all that heat generated by your incandescent and halogen lamps.

In Canada we should consider ourselves lucky that some of our energy costs are subsidized by the province. We currently pay 5.5 cents per kWh for the first 1000 hours and 6.4 cents thereafter. These prices will also be increasing this November, 2007. In the US the market price of electricity is hovering around 9.5 cents per kWh. Here is a cost analysis comparing a standard 60 watt incandescent bulb and our 10 watt PAR20 replacement bulb at US market prices.

Looking at today’s energy prices we see that at 12 hours a day a single incandescent bulb will cost $25 for the whole year. Not to mention you will need to replace them about 4 times during the year giving you a total of $30 for the year for just a single 60 watt bulb. Compare this to our PAR20 LED replacement lamp and in the same period you have a cost of only $4 and the PAR20 LED lamp should last up to another 11 years! Now of course you won’t be replacing just one lamp but all your fixtures and just think of the energy and real money you’ll be saving. If you replace just 10 lamps, you will save $1300 over the next 5 years alone!

Longevity

All Insaini LED products are rated with a 50,000+ hour lifespan, compare this to halogen lamps which are only rated at 2,000 hours.

Durability

Insaini's LED lamps are not made of glass that can shatter into a thousand pieces if dropped and there is no filament to burn out like in regular incandescent bulbs.

Environmentally Friendly

All our products are certified as RoHS compliant which is a standard that guarantees a product is free of hazardous materials such as mercury and lead. Other energy efficient lighting products such as Compact Fluorescents or CFL’s being promoted today still contain mercury and cannot be considered environmentally friendly lighting solutions.
